Wences

Wences is the siganture wine of the winery. "Wences" is how the whole wine world calls the enologist and founder of the winery. It is the most personal wine and the one of major expression of the winery. Maximum expression of fruit, carnosity and elegance.

Variety: 100% Tinta de Toro

Vineyards: Pago Santa Olalla.

Vineyards age:  older than 80 years.

Average altitude: 725 m.

Density / plantation frames:  100% bush-vines 3x3 square (900-1000 vines/Ha)

Vinification:

Manual harvest. Selection process in the vineyard as well in the winery. Sorting table.

24 months in oak barrels, 100% French. Fermented in oak.

24 months of maturation in bottle.

Sulfites content is minimum, just the necessary. Minimal quantities are added during vinification due to the tannin protection during wine life (higher content of tannins in Tinta de Toro). Experienced with reserva wines with more than 25 years old.

Wine Tasting:

The wine has a deep and dense colour with a garnet tint and an ample, generous nose that opens on rich and varied notes of black cherry, jammy fruit, blackcurrant liqueur and chocolate.

Round and full on the palate, with already well-integrated tannins, it is lifted by a multitude of flavours with touches of red berry fruit, blackberry, mocha and caramel.

The lovely, long finish displays plenty of structure and lingering flavours, expressing all the richness of the wine's origins.
